Large name brand makeup manufacturers pay hundreds of millions of dollars to create this perceived value. Why am I telling you this? Glad you asked…high end brands like Estee Lauder, MAC, Clinique, Bobby Brown, Etc. spend a great deal of time “policing” their name and watching for secondary sellers who might be diluting brand value by selling fakes, and potentially selling authentic items which have been sourced in an unscrupulous manner.
Can you get your hands on high-end, authentic makeup? Yes, but supplies are usually few and far between. I’ve never known of any one particular supplier that has lasted too long. If a hoard of stock shows up on the secondary market, it typically dries up as quickly as it appears. For this reason, I hasten any reseller to put all of their eggs in one basket, per se.
Discount and drugstore brand cosmetics such as L’Oreal, Revlon, and Maybeline, retain high retail and secondary market resell value. Why not source makeup items that are readily available? Supplies of this makeup are everywhere and can be often purchased at 10% – 25% of original retail value [or lower!] making items a great value to the discount store seller, flea market vendor, and online eBay and Amazon sellers.
